Hilton Bournemouth

After working all over the Easter bank holiday weekend, I was so excited about a night away at the Hilton Bournemouth on Monday. The hotel didn’t disappoint and was every bit as cool as the photos I’d seen on the website. IMG_4799.JPG
I lived in Bournemouth in the early 2000s, when I was studying at the university, so always enjoy coming back here. On this visit, I was blown away with how much the town has developed since I last came, over four years ago. There was lots of building work going on, new venues had popped up and a long list of big acts are now playing at the Bournemouth International Centre (BIC) and O2 Academy. It’s great to see Bournemouth on the up.

The Hilton Bournemouth opened its doors in December 2015 and four months later, still has that brand new feeling about it, not to mention so many quirky interior design features, even carried through into the car park. I swooned over every detail from the seagull shaped lights on reception to patterned tiles in the bathroom. One of my favourite details were the white and gold metallic pinwheels on the wall in the lobby – a theme which ran through the whole hotel design. My photos really don’t do it justice!

We didn’t have breakfast included in the stay but made use of the spa and enjoyed a cocktail in the Sky Bar – although expect to pay sky prices in here, with a 12.5% service fee added to the bill. You can’t leave without having at least one drink in there though! All the staff were so friendly and welcoming, which so often gets overlooked.IMG_4803.JPGHilton Bournemouth’s location is at the heart of the town’s up and coming area. Opposite, a £50m leisure complex is under construction and just a short stroll away are the shops and beach. If you’re looking for nightlife, the fashionable Bar So is just a stone’s throw away, as well as the BIC, where we watched the brilliant Years & Years.
IMG_4808.JPGIt was so good to come back to Bournemouth and stay in this new hotel. We paid £93 for a king guest room, which I think is good value for money. I can’t wait to go back!
