Gloucester’s Art Deco Cinema

At the weekend, Sherborne Cinema celebrated its first year since opening and it prompted me to give it a long overdue visit.
Sherborne is housed in an old building in Kingsholm, dating back to 1880. Inside it has been lovingly restored into a intimate Art Deco themed cinema, full of charm.

I took my niece to a midday Sunday family film showing (Capture the Flag) and it was just £3.50 each. You can’t book in advance but there are 141 seats, with a large screen and plenty of free parking. Popcorn and drinks are reasonably priced at £1 – not something that can be said about the larger chains! Make sure you bring cash if you go, as cards aren’t accepted.

I really loved how the cinema has been decorated and the staff are very welcoming – their passion for films shines through when chatting to them. I always like to support local businesses so will definitely start making more use of the cinema. It is right on my doorstep after all, being just a five minute walk away from me.

Whether you have children, love Art Deco, are a film fanatic or just fancy experiencing something a bit different, you won’t be disappointed when you visit Sherborne Cinema.
